A new series of 5-cent coins will be circulated shortly throughout the Eastern Caribbean.

According to the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), the 5-cent coin will be revealed in Montserrat next week. The coin will then be distributed in Grenada the following week, (the week of November 16th).

The new coin will be introduced in the remaining participating member countries during the week of November 23rd.

It features the ECCB logo at the front, surrounded by the flags of the participating member countries of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) and replaces the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II which was previously featured on the old 5-cent coin.

The redesigned coin represent an updated visual identity for the ECCB’s circulation currency while retaining a familiar feature of the existing coin series.
