Eight students to compete this Thursday at the 2025 Bank of Nevis Tourism Youth Congress
The Ministry of Tourism in partnership with the Bank of Nevis will host the 2025 Tourism Youth Congress on Thursday, May 15th, 2025 at the Nevis Performing Arts Centre (NEPAC).
A total of eight (8) secondary school students will vie for the title of Tourism Junior Minister. They are: Aija Liburd, Mitchell Bowrin, Khaden Hunkins, Delonte’ Warner, Khayla Claxton, Ticar-J Maynard, Ethana Hill and Lennon Chiverton.
According to a Press release, “the Tourism Youth Congress is a key initiative under the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), designed to give young people a platform to engage in tourism-related discourse, develop leadership skills, and influence the direction of the industry”.
The students will speak on four topics:
The Three New S’s of Caribbean Tourism – redefining the traditional “sun, sea, and sand” to reflect new values such as safety, smart technology, and sustainability. Leveraging Heritage Tourism for Development – exploring how culture, history, and identity can drive economic growth and community pride. Connecting the Caribbean with Sustainable Transport – examining opportunities for eco-friendly, efficient travel across the region and Digital Transformation in Tourism – highlighting how innovation and technology are reshaping how we promote, experience, and manage tourism.
The new Junior Minister will be expected to represent Nevis at the Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s Regional Tourism Youth Congress later this year.
Last year’s winner was Ms. Keyana Warner who went on to become the 2024 Caribbean Junior Minister.
