Electrical fire occurs at SKELEC’s St. Christopher Club Sub-Station
An electrical fire occurred at St. Kitts Electricity Company Ltd (SKELEC’s) St. Christopher Club Sub-Station on Wednesday afternoon Oct. 23rd.
Customers at St. Christopher Club, St. Christopher Club Gardens, and Rock Lobster restaurant were without electricity. Fortunately, from all reports, there were no injuries or loss of life.
Prior to this incident, two planned maintenance outages were announced by SKELEC on Wednesday for St. Christopher’s Club, Frigate Bay Strip and in Capisterre Housing Project.
As of Wednesday evening, the Utility Company stated “70 percent of customers affected by the outage was restored, i.e. St. Christopher Club Gardens, as well as the majority of St. Christopher Club residences.”
Work to repair and replace damaged cables continued in order for power to be restored to Rock Lobster Restaurant and surrounding areas. Investigations are ongoing into the cause of the fire.
