Erim Herbert awarded First ever Cedric Armbrister Scholarship

Mr. Erim Herbert of Cotton Ground, Nevis, is the first recipient of the Cedric Armbrister Scholarship awarded by the Nevis Electricity Company Ltd. (NEVLEC).

 

A brief award ceremony was held on August 18th attended by the awardee Erim Herbert, Premier Mark Brantley, representatives from NEVLEC and Mr. Cedric Armbrister’s wife and children.

 

The Scholarship only accommodates for Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering studies at the University of the West Indies. Awardees are given a sum of US$10,000 per annum towards their studies.

 

Premier Brantley at the award ceremony was quoted as saying “I feel proud that the vision of this Government of putting people first is now being manifest. Young Erim is a wonderful example of young Nevisians with huge potential.”

 

The late Cedric Armbrister served the government and people of Nevis for over 33 years. He was involved in the development and oversight of many projects aimed at increasing the coverage, capacity and reliability of electricity in Nevis.  In 1996 he retired as engineer/manager of the Electricity Department of the Nevis Island Administration, returning later to serve for a short while on the Board of NEVLEC.
