Federal Government issues policy on High-Risk Pregnancy Fund

The Federal Government has issued its policy on a new fund for pregnant women, dubbed “High-Risk Pregnancy Fund”.  This, according to Prime Minister and Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Terrance Drew, “will assist high-risk pregnant women. None of our pregnant women should die for lack of care.”

 

Further, the Prime Minister’s Office said “this fund is designed to remove barriers to critical maternal healthcare and ensure that every high-risk pregnant woman in our Federation has access to the support she needs for a safe and healthy delivery.”

 

Eligibility Criteria is as follows: the pregnant mother must be diagnosed as high-risk by a licensed physician. A formal letter or medical certificate from the attending physician is required, confirming: the high-risk diagnosis, and the need for financial or logistical assistance.

 

If you are an expectant mother facing a high-risk pregnancy and require assistance, please present your documentation directly to the Prime Minister’s Office, or call 465-2521. PM Drew announced on June 14th, that “the first pregnant woman is benefiting from the Pregnancy Fund.”
