Federal Minister of Cooperatives makes plea to have greater consumption of local produce

Despite the Covid-19 pandemic decimating economies globally, it has also resulted in a positive, as more persons here in St. Kitts & Nevis have seen the need to be involved in Agriculture.

Agriculture is the science, art, or practice of cultivating the soil, producing crops, and raising livestock and in varying degrees the preparation and marketing of the resulting products.

In August of this year, Prime Minister, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris, announced the Federal Government’s commitment, in reducing the high level of imports of goods into the country, by improving the contribution of agriculture, particularly crop and livestock farming and fisheries.

Federal Minister of Environment & Cooperatives, the Hon. Eric Evelyn, made this plea in the National Assembly on Dec. 18th, regarding local produce.

Minister Evelyn said Government should support the entrepreneurs.
