Federal Ministry of Education launches “Integration of Climate Smart Initiatives in the Education Sector.”
The Ministry of Education of St. Kitts and Nevis has officially launched a project entitled “Integration of Climate Smart Initiatives in the Education Sector.”
This initiative aims to integrate Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in alignment with UNESCO’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Sustainable Island State Agenda (SISA) of St. Kitts and Nevis.
A signing ceremony was held on August 15th and saw the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Lisa Romayne Pistana, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kaye Bass, and other senior officials. The project documents were formally signed by Permanent Secretaries Pistana and Bass.
According to a statement by the federal government, the project is designed to build climate-smart skills among the workforce, communities, and the general population and strengthen resilience through the promotion of renewable energy solutions and water conservation measures within the education sector.
