St. Kitts and Nevis joined the international community on June 5th, in celebrating World Environment Day 2026, launching a month-long series of activities aimed at promoting environmental stewardship and climate action. The official launch ceremony, held at Independence Square in Basseterre, marked the beginning of Environment Month, under the theme: “Inspired by Nature. For Our Climate. For Our Future.”

The Federal Ministry of Environment, Climate Action and Constituency Empowerment, through its various departments and units, is encouraging citizens to take part in initiatives that support sustainability and environmental protection throughout the month.

The calendar includes events such as the Green Your Office Challenge, community cleanups, the Forest Dash, a Climate Action Hopscotch Painting activity, ministerial radio interviews, a Green Expo, and a Clean, Green St. Kitts Music Festival collaboration. Officials say the initiative seeks to inspire collective action toward a more sustainable and resilient future.
