Final Phase of Single Use Plastic Ban Begins in St. Kitts and Nevis
Final Phase of Single Use Plastic Ban Begins in St. Kitts and Nevis
The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has entered the final phase of its national ban on single use plastic. As of August 31st, 2025, the importation of plastic utensils is officially prohibited.
These items include disposable forks, knives, spoons, cups, and plates. In the food and retail sectors the sale and distribution of these products will be banned starting November 30th, 2025.
This will allow businesses and consumers a three-month period to transition to eco-friendly alternatives such as biodegradable or reusable options.
This phase follows earlier bans on plastic shopping bags, Styrofoam food containers, and plastic straws as well as plastic egg crates forming part of the Federation’s broader strategy to reduce plastic waste and protect the environment.
