Final preparations being made for Nevis’ Non-Established Workers Pension Policy
Final preparations being made for Nevis’ Non-Established Workers Pension Policy
Premier Mark Brantley has met members of an Auxiliary Pension Committee on August 10th to finalize a pension policy for 1000 Non-Established (NE) workers on Nevis.
He made the announcement of policy being organized for the workers on May 16th 2022, along with a 15 percent salary increase to public servants (excluding cabinet members) in 5 percent increments over a three year period.
This plan offers gratuity and pensions to all the NE workers on the island of Nevis effective on September 1st, 2022.
The reason for this policy Premier Brantley stated during his May 16th address was because “Non-Established (NE) workers have long campaigned for greater security. Many have worked hard to serve Nevis but because they were never appointed to the Permanent Establishments walk away on retirement with a small gratuity but no pension or other benefits.”
