Fire occurs near Brimstone Hill Fortress, St. Kitts

Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park’s Management issued a statement following a fire, which occurred near the historical site, in St. Kitts. Based on photos and videos depicting the incident, it took place in nearby bushes.

 

In the statement issued on Friday Feb. 27th, the Management of Brimstone Hill said “there was a brush fire in the New Guinea area on Wednesday night, 25th February, 2026, which partially climbed the slopes of Brimstone Hill. None of the Brimstone Hill Fortifications were affected and we continue to operate as normal.”

 

However, the cause of the fire is not known. The VONNEWSLINE attempted to contact the Fire Chief about the matter but to no avail.

 

Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site of historical, cultural and architectural significance.
