First Male qualified from SKN for CARIFTA games

Nevisian born Kamarley Newton is the first qualified male to represent the federation of St. Kitts and Nevis in the upcoming CARIFTA games for 2023.

The games are scheduled to be held in the Bahamas in April. Mr. Newton, who took part in the Twilight Meet at the Kim Collins Stadium on Friday, January 20th, ran 10.73 in the Boys 100m Dash Open. Beating the qualifying time of 10.80 automatically, deemed the young athlete eligible to participate in the Men’s U20 100-meter dash at the CARIFTA games.

This year CARIFTA will celebrate its 50th Anniversary and plans to host teams from across the Caribbean in a variety of races and sporting events.

According to a statement released by the Organizing Committee, events leading up this year’s occasion have been designed to highlight, present and past athletes that have contributed to the history and development of the CARIFTA Games.
