A video footage of an altercation which took place at the Charlestown Secondary School (CSS) on Wednesday May 24th, will be “thoroughly investigated”, the word from Nevis’ Ministry of Education, Library Services, Information Technology, Youth and Sports.
The video, which has made rounds on social media, depicts a girl being beaten by a large number of students.
The Ministry said in a statement: “it is in possession of the footage” and that “the matter is currently being investigated to ensure that we gather information from the involved parties”.
According to the statement, the Education Ministry “takes matters of this nature very seriously as this type of behavior has no place in the school environment.” It added “as such, this matter will be thoroughly investigated and will be dealt with expeditiously.”
A spokesperson for CSS told the VONNEWSLINE that “the school takes the matter seriously” as investigations continue
