Former GG Tapley Seaton laid to rest on Thursday

Former Governor General of St. Kitts and Nevis, the late Sir Samuel Weymouth Tapley Seaton GCMG, CVO, KC, JP, LLD, was laid to rest on Thursday July 20th 2023.

 

 

 

His state service was held at the Zion Moravian Church in St. Kitts. He received full military honours and the day, July 20th, was recognized as a National Day of Mourning as well as a half holiday throughout the Federation.

Sir Tapley Seaton passed away on June 29th, 2023. He served as the Federation’s first and youngest Attorney General after Independence from 1980-1995, an architect of SKN’s Constitution and Governor General from 2015- 2023.

 

 

 

He also served on various boards and national committees, such as the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Frigate Bay Development Corporation; president of the St. Christopher Heritage Society (now The St. Christopher National Trust), the St. Kitts-Nevis Bar Association and the OECS Bar Association among others.
