Four Nevisians sworn in as MPs at 1st Sitting, Speaker and Deputy Speaker elected 

Four Nevisians were sworn in as Members of the Federal Parliament (MPs), during the first Sitting of the National Assembly on Tuesday, October 25th.

 

This also comes following the August 5th General Elections, which is in accordance with SKN’s Constitution.

 

They are in the persons of Premier of Nevis, Leader of the Opposition and MP for the Constituency of Nevis 9 – Hon. Mark Brantley, Deputy Premier and MP for the Constituency of Nevis 11 – Hon. Alexis Jeffers and Hon. Eric Evelyn, MP for the Constituency of Nevis 10.

 

Opposition Senator, Hon. Latoya B. Jones, was sworn in on Monday, October 24th. 

 

MP’s from St. Kitts that also make up the Federal Parliament, were also sworn in and all of the Honorable Members took the Oath of Allegiance. 

 

Meanwhile, Tuesday’s Sitting also saw the swearing in of a new Speaker of the National Assembly. Here is the Hon. Lanien Blanchette:

Subsequently, Governor-General’s Deputy, Her Excellency Marcella Liburd, delivered the Throne Speech.
