Freedom of Conscience Bill passed in National Assembly

The Freedom of Conscience (Cannabis) Bill 2023 was officially passed through parliament on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023. The bill was moved by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Social Development, Education, etl.al, Hon. Geoffrey Hanley.

 

 

 

This new law allows the personal cultivation of Cannabis for private use in a secured area in a private residence and personal possession. It will also allow the public use of the substance in designated smoking areas for the enjoyment of a person’s freedom of conscience.

 

 

 

This will also allow the major step in executing the first cannabis friendly event in the form of the St. Kitts Music Festival scheduled to take place from (today) Thursday.

 

 

 

The Rastafari Rights Recognition Bill was also move by the Deputy Prime Minister and passed into law along with the Smoking (Designated Areas) Bill, 2023 and the Drugs (Prevention and Abatement of the Misuse and Abuse of Drugs) 2023 moved by Prime Minister – Hon. Terrance Drew.
