Full Operations resume at Vance Amory Int. Airport

Following a statement from the Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Mark Brantley, concerning issues with the fire tender (or fire truck) at the Vance Amory International Airport, NASPA (Nevis Air and Sea Ports Authority) has said “the interim mechanical repairs to the firetruck have been completed.”

The issues caused a “temporary restriction to the size of aircraft that can land at the airport”, the Premier said on Monday.

However, in an update, NASPA mentioned “consequently, operations involving larger aircraft, including WINAIR flights, have resumed, while services for smaller aircraft, such as Cape Air and approved charters, continue without disruption.”

It said “it remains in active engagement with all relevant stakeholders to achieve a comprehensive and enduring resolution to the underlying mechanical issues. Ensuring full operational reliability and compliance with international safety standards, remains a paramount priority.”

As developments occur, NASPA said it “will continue to provide timely updates to the public…The safety, security, and operational efficiency of the Vance W. Amory International Airport remain at the forefront of NASPA’s mandate.”
