Funds released for Construction of new Basseterre High School
Federal Minister of Education – the Hon. Jonel Powell.
He was speaking during the latest edition of the Leadership Matters Programme, aired on Tuesday, February 16th.
The Basseterre High School had been earmarked for reconstruction due to the various health concerns with the old building on Victoria Road making the environment unsafe for students and teachers.
On July 25th, 2016, Deputy Prime Minister and then Minister of Education – the Hon. Shawn Richards announced during a Town Hall meeting in St. Kitts, that $EC 10 million had been allocated for the building of the brand new Basseterre High School (BHS).
The proposed site for the new Basseterre High School is at the southern end of the Basseterre Aquifer situated at Ponds Estate, Basseterre, St. Kitts.
