That’s Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris, speaking during Tuesday’s “Leadership Matters” program.
The Social Security’s COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund was created to assist all working persons, whose income has been directly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In partnership with the Labour Department, the Social Security facilitated the payment of up to EC$ 1,000 monthly for three months in the first instance (April, May and June).
Beneficiaries of the fund include: Full time and part-time employees who have been laid off, employed but with reduced hours, persons made redundant as a result of the pandemic and registered Self-employed persons whose income is impacted by the virus.
While the PM provided a time-frame when persons can expect their funds, he urged the beneficiaries to be prudent in their spending.
