Five bids from internationally recognized firms have been accepted for the production drilling phase of the proposed geothermal power project on Nevis.
The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States Commission confirmed the submissions following a tender process. The bids came from Iceland Drilling, Marriott Drilling, Consortium Drilling, Ormat Technologies Inc. and IPS-USA.

At the time, he reminded the public that the financing was already secured to move the project forward.
The development envisions a 30-megawatt facility that will provide baseload renewable energy for both Nevis and St. Kitts. Regionally, St. Kitts and Nevis is following Dominica, which expects a 10-megawatt plant by late 2025, while Guadeloupe has been generating geothermal energy since 1986.
