“Government in your hands” – ICT Officer explains the E-ID System
As the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis continues its journey of digital transformation a town hall meeting was held on Monday November 3rd, 2025 to educate the public on such initiatives and provide a space for questions to be asked and addressed.
One initiative that will be introduced is the Electronic or E-ID Digital Authentication Portal. Mr. Sancho Duncan, Enterprise Architect at the Department of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), explained that the E-ID will give every citizen and resident a secure electronic identity for easier access to government and private-sector services.
He explained that it works like a digital key, allowing people to prove who they are safely, whether online or in person. Also Mr. Duncan emphasized that the system would offer user control:

Mr. Sancho Duncan. With strong privacy protections, anti-counterfeit features, and the goal of reducing identity fraud, the initiative will make everyday services, such as applying for loans or checking health records, faster and more secure.
