Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis releases statement on Alleged leaked Travel Restriction list by the US

On Saturday, March 15th, the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis, released a Statement addressing concerns of a ‘New York Times publication’ containing information on an allegedly leaked U.S. Travel Restrictions list of recommended countries, whose citizens may be denied access to the United States.

After engagements between the federation’s government and the embassy in Washington DC, the statement declared: “Prime Minister, the Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew confirmed today that no formal or informal communication has been received from the US government regarding the alleged inclusion of St. Kitts and Nevis on a so-called ‘Yellow list’.”

It continued: “The draft list reportedly suggests that countries placed on the yellow list have “60 days to address concerns.” However, the Government is not aware of any such concerns raised by its US counterparts.”

The statement elaborated on the federations open and consistent dialogue with the US State Department and Treasury in regards to Saint Kitts and Nevis’ Citizenship by Investment Programme (CBI) since August, 2022. PM Drew and other officials, also met with a consultant and interim regulatory committee, to advance the process of a regulatory framework for OECS (Organization of Eastern Caribbean States) nations with CBI programmes, the statement disclosed.

The public will be provided with any updates on official communication regarding the leaked draft list should they be received. Prime Minister Drew stated, “The United States has been an invaluable development partner, and we are grateful for their contributions to our Federation over the years. We are committed to strengthening our relationship.”
