Governor General and other Government Dignitaries honour St. Kitts and Nevis’ Centenarians

Each year in the federation, on May 31st, persons who have reached and surpassed the centennial milestone in their lives are celebrated for their longevity and contributions towards the nation.

On Friday, May 30th, 2025, celebrants were visited by Governor General, Her Excellency, Dame Marcella Liburd, Deputy Governor General, Her Honour, Mrs. Hyleeta Liburd, Nevis’ Minister of Social Empowerment, the Hon. Jahnel Nisbett, Federal Minister for Ageing and Disabilities, the Hon. Isalean Phillip and other government officers.

On Nevis, there are five centenarians: Eliza Jeffers, who is the oldest in the federation at 105 years, Olga Francis Jeffers, Leontine Clarke, Evelyn Browne, and Geraldine Berry.

Residing in St. Kitts are Esther Harris, Angeline Revan, Clarence Hendrickson Williams, and Dale Edmund Morton.

Nevis’ Social Services Seniors Recreational Group said in a post which marked the occasion and I quote “A wise man once said we age not by our years but by our stories.”

Governor General Liburd shared that their “lives are a living legacy of strength, wisdom, and service.”
