As the countdown continues until the commencement of Nevis’ largest summer festival-Culturama, the Nevis Culturama Committee has released the identity of the patron for the 51^st celebration.

 Mr. Halstead “Sooty” Byron was announced as the patron on Tuesday, May 20^th.

 Mr. Byron is known for his contributions to cultural growth and preservation on the island in several roles, including: Director of Culture, Nevis’ representative on the National Commission for UNESCO, Chairman of the Nevis Cultural Development Foundation, Education Officer for Culture and Heritage and Chairman of the Nevis Culturama Committee.

Other accolades include his involvement in cultural arts, such as: African Drumming and Jumping Clowns and the archiving of the island’s history and culture through songwriting, poetry and dramatic presentations.

 During the official release, Mr. Byron had this to say:
