Hamas and Israel war: “Less instability is of value”, Premier Brantley
Hamas and Israel war: “Less instability is of value”, Premier Brantley
On Oct. 7th 2023, the Islamic Resistance Movement or Hamas, attacked Israel, killing about 1,200 people and taking more than 250 hostages.
Hamas is a Palestinian armed group and political movement in the Gaza Strip. This triggered a massive Israeli military offensive in Gaza. More than 46,700 people in Gaza – mostly civilians, the majority of whom were women and children – have been killed in the fighting, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
However, in January 2025, Israel and Hamas agreed a deal to halt the war and release Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners.
If those the ceasefire follows through and an eventual end comes to fruition, what does this mean for us in SKN? Nevis’ Premier, Mark Brantley, explained this to the VONNEWSLINE.
