Health Officials trained to deal with public in executing duties; So says Junior Health Minister on Nevis

As health authorities here in the federation continue to put in place measures to combat and fight against diseases, there are some concerns of the public with regards to the processes involved.

This comes as the Health Division here on Nevis continues to fight against Mosquitoes and the diseases they carry.

Are health officials infringing on the rights of individuals in the general public?

 Prevention methods include fogging; setting of mosquito traps and disposing of water that may be a breeding source for mosquitoes.

These take place in and around the properties and homes of individuals.  But can heath officials just enter one’s property to carry out either of these processes without permission?

The VONNEWSLINE spoke to Junior Minister of Health here on Nevis, the Hon. Hazel Brandy-Williams about this and she provided this information.

 

Regardless of this fact and the right that gives health officials permission in this aspect, there may be some uncooperative individuals that may push back against this cause.  

Asked whether health officers are trained to deal with these persons, the Junior Health Minister indicated, “Yes they are”.
