How do you recognize and respond to heat emergencies?

Since 2022, organizations recognize Heat Action Day with the aim of raising awareness to the dangers of extreme heat amidst the growing impact of climate change and global warming.

The day was observed on June 2nd, with the 2025 theme: “Recognizing and Responding to Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke.”

The St. Kitts and Nevis Red Cross Society Headquarters in a social media post encourages everyone to recognize the signs of a heat related illness and respond quickly to save lives.

To cope with heat waves and extreme heat this summer, some tips include: staying out the sun, keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water, dressing light, avoiding physical efforts during the hottest hours of the day and do not leave children or pets in parked vehicles.
