Human Security Secretariat engages NIA on national safety and wellbeing initiatives

The National Secretariat for Human Security and Wellbeing continued its programme of national engagements with a high-level meeting held on Nevis on April 26th, reinforcing collaboration between the Federal Government and the Nevis Island Administration.

 

The delegation from St. Kitts was led by Minister of Social Development-St. Kitts and Co-Chair of the Human Security and Wellbeing Task Force, the Hon. Isalean Phillip. Also joining her was Coordinator of the Secretariat, Ms. Eartha Carey, and Acting Programme Director, Mr. Hance Richards, who leads on research and data analysis.

 

The delegation was received by the Nevis Island Administration- NIA Cabinet, led by Premier the Hon. Mark Brantley. The delegation from St. Kitts provided an update on the ongoing work of the Secretariat. Discussions also focused on upcoming national initiatives, including the first annual Own Your Summer youth initiative, which forms part of the broader Summer of Intervention programme.

 

The Own Your Summer initiative targets young people between the ages of 13 and 20 and will be delivered in partnership with businesses, sports groups, faith-based organisations, and community groups, offering a range of opportunities, including skills development.
