Federal Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. Samal Duggins recently held a press conference updating the public on the work of his ministries for the second quarter of the year under the theme: “Raising the Standard”.
Under the Ministry of Agriculture, he highlighted recent work done to boost food production and security in St. Kitts. For example, farmers would have benefitted from distributions of over 150, 000 pineapple slips and nearly 100, 000 plantain slips. Also being distributed are 15 000 coconut slips. Minister Duggins commented that, “we believe fundamentally, we will eat of the seeds that we sow, and as we sow these seeds, the future shall be a bountiful harvest.”
Meantime, the Virtual Launch of the 19th Caribbean Week of Agriculture 2025 (CWA2025) took place on Tuesday, July 15th 2025. Later this year, from September 29th to October 3rd, the federation of St. Kitts and Nevis will host the event under the theme: “Sowing Change, Harvesting Resilience: Transforming Our Caribbean Food Systems for 2025 and beyond”.
