Hundreds turn out for Culturama 48’s concluding events

After a two-year hiatus, hundreds turned out in the heart of Charlestown for Culturama 48 Emancipation Day Jump Up Long Jam and Herbert’s Beach Affair on Monday, August 1st, 2022 and then the Street Parade and Last Lap Jump Up on Tuesday, August 2nd

Members of the public as well as visitors from St. Kitts and the wider diaspora came out in their numbers to celebrate the festivities in person rather than under the restrictions caused by the pandemic that forced the festivities to be carried virtually in 2021.

On Monday, August 1st, from 5:00 a.m., from Market-shop, Gingerland to the heart of Charlestown a ‘sea’ of people paraded the streets accompanied by a wide variety of entertainers and local bands.

A similar turnout was seen later that day, at the Herbert’s Beach Affair held at Herbert’s Beach. This event featured bands such as Grand Masters, Small Axe and Kassanova as well as DJs Wett Dutt and Zimba.

On Tuesday August 2nd, people of all ages paraded throughout the heart of Charlestown in a wide variety of colourful costumes much to the enjoyment of many spectators and visitors.
