Increase in Cancer Cases on Nevis Linked to Improved Screening, Says Dr. Tivon Browne

Health officials on Nevis are encouraging residents to take advantage of early screening and make healthier lifestyle choices, as the island continues to see an increase in Cancer diagnoses.

 

District Medical Officer in the Ministry of Health, under the Nevis Island Administration, Dr. Tivon Browne, who specializes in Preventative and Primary Medicine, says the rise in cases are partly due to improved screening and surveillance:

 

 

Dr. Browne was speaking on the ‘On the Mark’ Program on October 22nd, 2025, where he discussed cancer trends and prevention efforts across Nevis.

 

He also pointed out that certain environmental and lifestyle factors can contribute to the development of cancers and encouraged the public to make better dietary choices and limit exposure to harmful elements:

 

 

Health authorities are continuing their push for early detection and public education, reminding residents that lifestyle changes and regular checkups remain the key in the fight against cancer.
