SKN recorded its 2nd murder for 2026 as 39-year-old Jermaine “Chubby” Clarke of College Street, St. Kitts, was gunned down in the wee hours of Sunday morning in Keys Village.

He was seated in his vehicle along with a female occupant, when he was approached and shot multiple times by one or more armed assailants. Both individuals were transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital by private vehicle. Mr. Clarke later succumbed to his injuries. The female occupant did not sustain any gunshot injuries, however, she was injured during the incident and is receiving medical care. Clarke was the lead singer of the Kollision Band in St. Kitts, which won Road March Champions Sugar Mas 2024 and 1st runner up for Sugar Mas 2025.

But what were the circumstances that led to his demise? Did a feud or a fight occur months before Chubby’s death? The VONNEWSLINE posed the latter question to the police, who responded by saying: “At this stage, the RSCNPF is unable to divulge specific details regarding motive or other investigative findings, as this remains an active and ongoing investigation.”

A statement was issued from the National Secretariat for Human Security and Wellbeing Apr. 5th, said “Moments of tension can be managed without escalation as the choices made in those moments carry lasting consequences.” Minister of Creative Economy et.al, the Hon. Samal Duggins, expressed his “profound sadness” following Chubby’s untimely passing.

People’s Action Movement (PAM) mentioned that Mr. Clarke “was more than a musician. He was a devoted father, a loving son, and a true friend to many”. People’s Labour Party (PLP) said on social media “our hearts are heavy as we mourn your passing. We extend our deepest and sincerest sympathies to your family during this painful time.”
