“Island Girls Rock”, a group found here on the island of Nevis and other Caribbean islands, is geared towards Caribbean Women Empowerment through means of artistries, such as: Writing and Art Exhibitions in an initiative called the “Bloom Mentorship Program”. Persons can look forward to additional programs, they are: Wellness Practices and Film, a “Let’s Get Lit” Book Club celebrating the Literature and Culture of Caribbean Women and creating Podcasts.
The VON Newsline caught up with the Founder of “Island Girls Rock”, Chantel Miller, who told us about their latest group event:
In 2016, Ms. Miller lived in the UK and was involved in events focused on amplifying the voices of Caribbean artists which brought her attention to a group who weren’t getting enough light shed on them. Now back on Nevis, she is happy to invite new members to Island Girls Rock as she feels no matter what point you are at in life, everyone appreciates support in their aspirations and endeavors:
