Ivor Walters Primary and Charlestown Secondary; winners of inaugural STEM Challenge

The Ministry of Education on Nevis held its first ever STEM Challenge on Wednesday, May 24th, 2023. The event which formed part of STEM Week 2023, saw representatives from all primary schools on the islands for the primary segment and the Charlestown and Gingerland Secondary Schools participating in the secondary school segment.

 

 

 

Students were engaged in a number of scientific, technological, mathematical and engineer-based questions and challenges to put their theoretical skills and knowledge to the test.

 

 

 

At the end of the day, the Ivor Walters Primary School won the honoured title of the first STEM Challenge winner for the primary school segment. In second place was the St. Thomas’ Primary School and third was the Maude Crosse Preparatory School. As it relates to the secondary school segment, the Charlestown Secondary School walked away as champions with the Gingerland Secondary School taking second place.

 

 

 

STEM Week will conclude on Friday with a STEM Expo at the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park from 9am to 4pm.
