A wave of Caribbean and Kittitian pride swept through the internationally renowned 2026 World Natural Hair Show which took place from April 18th to19th, in Atlanta.

For over 25 years, the cultural lifestyle event, founded by Taliah Waajid, renowned as the “Queen of Natural Hair”, has celebrated natural beauty, entrepreneurship, and innovation, attracting tens of thousands of industry leaders and creatives annually. This year, however, the spotlight turned firmly toward St. Kitts & Nevis in the braiding competition this past weekend.

Representing St. Kitts, JaHair Salon, owned by entrepreneur, Janelle Williams, secured both first and second place, an extraordinary achievement that underscored the island’s artistic excellence. The winning creations, “Crowned by Culture” and “Crowned by Nature,” were intricate, fully hand-braided ensembles crafted entirely from hair, spanning headpieces to accessories.

Model Necola Samuel showcased the first-place design, while Sherquanya Jeffers embodied the second-place piece, each bringing poise and power to the stage.

Beyond competition, the victory signals something deeper: St. Kitts’ growing influence in global beauty culture.
