Police have seized the first illegal firearm for 2026.
It comes as officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) conducted a vehicle stop and search along the Island Main Road at Conaree, St. Kitts, on Wednesday Mar. 4th on suspicion that the occupants were in possession of controlled drugs, arms, or ammunition.
The vehicle, owned and driven by Renelle Edwards, who was accompanied by Ricardo Thomas, both of Tabernacle, St. Kitts, was searched. Lawmen said during the search, officers recovered one (1) Taurus pistol and fifty (50) matching rounds of ammunition.
The scene was processed by the Crime Scene Unit, and the firearm contraband and vehicle were taken into Police custody, and Mr Edwards and Mr Thomas were arrested.
On March 6th, 2026, Mr Thomas and Mr Edwards were each charged at the Basseterre Police Station with the offences of Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition. Investigations into this matter continue.
