Leader of SKNLP questions Relief Fund at Social Security
Leader of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP), Dr. the Hon. Denzil Douglas, issued a statement on Friday, April 3rd 2020, questioning the Relief Fund by the Social Security Board.
This fund was recently announced by Prime Minister, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris.
According to the Social Security Board, this fund is for all working persons whose income has been directly affected by the CoVID-19 pandemic.
These include: Full time and Part-time employees who have been laid off, employed but with reduced hours, persons made redundant as a result of the pandemic and registered Self-employed persons, whose income is impacted by the CoVID-19 pandemic.
In partnership with the Labour Department, the Social Security Board will facilitate the payment of up to EC$ 1,000.00 monthly for three months in the first instance.
Here is Dr. Douglas.
Dr. Douglas also argued that the $1000.00 per month, is not sufficient.
