LIDC action to kick off on Friday

Debating teams from across the Leeward Islands will face each other in the annual Leeward Island Debating Competition which commences on Friday at The Royal St. Kitts Hotel Conference Room.

 

 

 

After a prolonged pause in participation due to the Covid Pandemic, Team Nevis will take part in the competition’s first debate against Montserrat at 10am debating the moot “Higher Education Institutions should ban the use of Artificial Intelligence in academic discourse”. At 1pm, Anguilla will face Antigua under the moot “Social Media is detrimental to the Caribbean region’s cultural identity”.

 

 

 

Then on Saturday at 6pm for the semi-finals, St. Maarten will face the winner of Debate 1, debating the moot “The Caribbean region is adequately prepared to respond to future pandemics and health crises” and at 8pm, St. Kitts goes against the Winner of Debate 2 with the moot “Caribbean nations have sufficiently improved their education systems to prepare youth for 21st century challenges”

 

 

 

Culminating with the finals on Sunday at 5pm, winners of debate 3 and 4 will vie for the championship under the moot “The feminist movement has become focused on attacking men rather than promoting the equality of women”
