Local Sourcing of Food encouraged to improve Food Security and Sustainability
As the countdown to the 42nd celebration of Independence in the federation continues, a discussion focused on the topic: “From Farm to Fork: Making St. Kitts and Nevis Food-Secure & Self-Sufficient”.
The discussion shed light on gaps or inefficiencies in local food production such as: a lack of demand for local products, the inability of producers to consistently meet demands for local produce, inefficient planting strategies, and the lack of an entrepreneurial mindset to identify opportunities for profit, cost savings, and mutual collaboration.
