Man and 16-year-old charged with murder

One man and a 16-year-old have been charged with the offence of murder.

 

A police communique states: “The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) has formally charged Kirvin Morris of Haynes Smith Village, St. Kitts, and a sixteen (16)-year-old male from St. Kitts, with the offence of Murder committed against Kayden Hanley on January 2nd 2026, in Basseterre.”

Both were charged at the Basseterre Police Station on January 24th.

 

 

In the midst of Sugar Mas 54 (or Carnival) on Friday, January 2nd (Last Lap), police officers responded to a report of a stabbing incident that occurred in the vicinity of Independence Square.

 

 

Kayden Hanley of Shadwell Estate, 18, sustained a stab wound to the chest and was transported to the Joseph N. France (JNF) General Hospital by officers of the Special Services Unit (SSU). Mr Hanley succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival. This was the Federation’s first homicide for 2026.
