Man charged in connection with traffic accident near Monkey Farm in St. Kitts

Adriel Benjamin of Wingfield Road, Old Road, St. Kitts, was formally cautioned and charged at the Tabernacle Police Station. Mr. Benjamin was charged with six counts of Dangerous Driving, and one count of Wanton Driving on July 14th in connection with a traffic accident that occurred on July 2nd, 2025 at Borryeaux in the vicinity of the Monkey Farm.

 

 

 

Additionally, Justin Merritt Jr. of Buckley’s Housing Development, St. Kitts, has been charged with the offences of Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Firearm with Intent to Endanger Life, and Discharging a Loaded Firearm in a Public Place. The charges are in connection with an incident that occurred on July 11th, at Bird Rock. Mr. Merritt was charged on Monday July 14th, at the Basseterre Police Station.

 

 

 

In more police news – Shajuan Walters of Lodge Village, St. Kitts was convicted and sentenced for the offence of the Unlawful Conveyance of Prohibited Items into His Majesty’s Prison, committed on October 24th, 2024. Mr. Walters pleaded guilty to the conveying of one flash drive, one digital SIM card, and attempting to convey some portions of the cannabis plant. For conveying the flash drive and SIM card, he was convicted and fined EC $500 to be paid within fourteen days; in default of which, he will serve one month in prison. Mr. Walters also pleaded guilty to attempting to convey portions of the cannabis plant into His Majesty’s Prison.

 

 

 

He was subsequently convicted and fined EC $500 to be paid within fourteen (14) days, or in default, one month in prison. The court further ruled that if both fines are paid in full within the stipulated time, no conviction will be recorded against him. His sentence was handed down on July 15th, 2025, at the Basseterre Magistrate Court by His Honour Reynold Benjamin.
