Police have charged Lennox Nathaniel Greaves of Molineaux, St. Kitts, with the offence of Causing Death by Careless Driving, which is in relation to the death of Dr. Simoneth Williams of Stapleton Village, St. Kitts.
Mr. Greaves was arrested and charged at the Basseterre Police Station on Wednesday April 23rd. This comes about four months after her death.
Dr. Williams was struck by a vehicle while walking along the island’s main road in the New Road area, between 11:30PM and 12AM, on December 20th. She was transported to the JNF General Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Her death caused controversy as days before her death, she went live on Facebook, expressing grievances, with regards to her not receiving compensation from the Federal Government. Dr. Williams was attached to the JNF General Hospital.
Many persons in the public viewed her death as a homicide. However, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) issued a statement in January, saying it “is aware of unfounded claims circulating on various platforms alleging that Dr. Williams’ death was a homicide tied to recent public statements she made. There is no evidence to support such claims.”
