Man sentenced for firearm possession and official cause of death for drowning victim released

On Friday August 4th, twenty year-old Kylon Hazel of Bouncing Hill/Crab Hill, Sandy Point, St. Kitts was sentenced to serve fifteen (15) months imprisonment for the Possession of Firearm.

 

 

 

He was reprimanded for the charge of Possession of Ammunition. Both charges were previously laid against Mr. Hazel on January 11th, 2023. Mr. Hazel was sentenced at the Magistrate’s Court in Sandy Point on August 4th, 2023.

The official cause of death for drowning victim Jahzaniah Carty has been determined.

 

 

 

On July 28th, 2023, police responded to a report of a suspected drowning incident at Willet’s Great House in St. Paul’s, St. Kitts. Upon arrival at the scene, Jahzaniah Carty was found lying at the pool side, unresponsive. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

 

 

 

The autopsy which was conducted on August 4th, 2023 determined that the cause of death was due to mechanical asphyxia due to drowning and submersion into pool water.
