In a celebration of academic achievement, cultural exchange, and international friendship, the island of Nevis recently hosted the Fourth Annual Awards Ceremony for the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL).
The event highlighted the efforts of students of various ages, the youngest of whom was eight (8), who undertook various levels of the Mandarin proficiency exam. It also as paid tribute to Miss Chen Chi, the island’s first Mandarin instructor, whose 5 year tenure now comes to a close. As she returns to Taiwan, many expressed heartfelt gratitude for her lasting impact on education and cultural exchange.
Many officials were present including Premier, Hon. Mark Brantley and Minister of Education, Hon. Troy Liburd, as well as the resident Taiwanese Ambassador, His Excellency Edward Tao.
