On Tuesday, May 3rd, 2023, the Media Association of St. Kitts and Nevis with the aid of the US Embassy to Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean and Organization of the Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) hosted a Media and Law Workshop for media personnel at the Open Interactive Conference Facilities, St. Kitts.

Providing remarks at the opening ceremony were Attorney General Hon. Garth Wilkin, President of the Media Association of St. Kitts and Nevis, Mr. Andre Huie and Public Affairs Officer at the US Embassy, Mr. Donald Maynard.

The workshop consisted of a number of virtual and in person presentations on how the law is an important factor in the Media Profession. Topics discussed throughout the day included Intellectual Property Laws, media law in the Caribbean and reporting on crime in the federation.

Facilitators of the event included Judge Justice Kathy Ann Waterman-Latchoo, Registrar at the Intellectual Property Office in SKN, Jihan Williams and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Cromwell Henry.
