St. Kitts Meteorological Services said in a press release on Thursday Aug. 13th, that they “continue to closely monitor the progress of an area of low pressure designated as Invest 92L located in the mid-Atlantic Ocean.”
Environmental conditions are forecast to be conducive for some development and a tropical depression will likely form within a day or so, as the system moves in the general direction of the island chain. However, as the system moves through the island chain, environmental conditions are forecast to be hostile and should weaken the system.
Met officials say the core of Invest 92L “is likely to pass through the Windward Island with indirect impacts for us here in St. Kitts and Nevis.” St. Kitts and Nevis may possibly experience some squally conditions on Saturday into Sunday. Weather conditions will likely consist of patches of showers, with some of the showers may be moderate to heavy at times and accompanied with some thunderstorms and gusty winds.
Seas are likely to be elevated over the weekend and peak at about 10ft or less. Advisories for mariners will be shared in the local forecasts over the upcoming days. These conditions may be less depending on how weak the eventual system becomes; and how far away the core weather will be in relation to us.
There is NO WATCH or WARNING in effect currently for St. Kitts and Nevis nor any of the islands. Meanwhile, met officials continue to monitor the system.
