That was the voice of the newly appointed President of the Nevis Island Assembly Hon. Michelle Jan Slack during the first sitting held on Thursday, January 19th 2023.

Hon. Slack is an Associate Attorney-at-Law at the Law Firm of Daniel Brantley on Nevis.

She was named a 2021 Chevening Scholar from the Barbados and Eastern Caribbean region. She also represented the island in the 9th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s (CPA) Commonwealth Youth Parliament (CYP9) in 2018, on the small island of Jersey located in the English Channel.

Her predecessor, Mr. Farrel Smithen was first nominated as President of the Nevis Island Assembly in 2013, following the 2012 Nevis Island Assembly election. He served for 10 years until Ms. Slack’s appointment. Previously, he served as clerk of the House.
