Minister Duggins gives update on 25% by 2025 Agenda

Several years ago, member states of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) formed a partnership with the regional private sector, organizations, producer groups and other partners to achieve: “Vision 25 by 2025”.

 

This initiative was mainly created with the goal of reducing the region’s food import bill by 25% at the end of the year 2025, which is over six billion dollars ($6B).

 

On February 21st, 2025, CARICOM announced that there will be an extension of the project to the year 2030. The reasons cited were “uncertainties in the global arena” and the “impacts of natural disasters in the region”.

 

For St. Kitts and Nevis, an internal target was set of $50million. Federal Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources gave an update on the federation’s position:
