Minister Duggins Signs Agreement with Afreximbank to develop Port Facility for Afri-Carib Trade
The nation’s Federal Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, et. al., the Hon. Samal Duggins has signed an agreement with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) for a Letter of Interest, to support the development of a state-of-the-art port in Saint Kitts that will facilitate African-Caribbean Trade in the region.
It is a US$40 million dollar project to be developed in partnership with the Gemini Integrated Commodities Trading Company, and is proposed to be a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
The facility is also intended to address gaps in port capacity and market access, a solution to logistical inefficiencies and unrealized trade potential.
