Minister of Health, Gender Affairs and Social Empowerment on Nevis, Hon. Jahnel Nisbett, recently highlighted the opportunities available through the Medical University of the Americas (MUA)-sponsored NIA Scholarship while urging more students to apply.

Ms. Nisbett congratulated this year’s awardees, Mikaela Maynard and Aliyah Sampson. Maynard will pursue Family and Child Development at Liberty University, while Sampson will study Psychology at Midwestern University. Nisbett praised both students and expressed confidence in the awardees as they will return to Nevis and contribute to the community.

She also raised concerns over the low number of applications. Only about eight students applied this year, despite the scholarship generally covering tuition and board for undergraduate study.

Nisbett stressed that the scholarship is not limited to medical studies.
